Design Engineering Tooling

Global has developed very strong relationships with both domestic and foreign tool and die manufacturers. This network has expanded over time and has given Global the flexibility to capture the best possible prices and lead-times for our customers. Having a network to choose from allows us to select a tool builder that is best matched to the job requirements. It may be the technology, equipment, lead- times or pricing that are determining factors, however, not being locked into any single source with these companies has them "competing" for our business. As a result, our customers have benefited by getting some very fast turnaround time at very competitive prices.With Global serving as your "program manager" we assume the burden and take the responsibility to see that your tools are designed for "manufacturability". This is done through the combined efforts of our in-house expertise and that of our selected toolmaker. This not only takes into consideration the tool design but really starts with the proper part design. Too many times in the haste to build a tool not enough consideration is given to the design of the part. At Global we focus a great deal of effort on this "up-front" phase in the program because it minimizes the problems and concerns at the back end project.

To further assist our customers through this process Global can provide conceptual renderings, 3-D CAD and solid surface modeling, a variety of prototyping, mold-flow analysis and more.

Although the majority of all tooling projects have been handled through our domestic sources, we have through necessity gone off-shore for more and more programs. All of this work has been produced either in China or Portugal.

As part of Global Plastic Technologies company philosophy and strategic growth plan we will invest our capital and resources into our core business which is molding, decorating and assembly. At the same time, we will continue to develop our alliances with those suppliers that enable us to provide our customers with a complete turn-key approach to product development.
